Description

Alistrati cave was first opened to the public in 1998. It is considered one of the finest caves in Greece and one of the most beautiful in Europe, with exceptionally rich formations of stalagmites and stalactites. The length of the passages is almost 3 km, while visitors can explore a route of about 1 km.

The cave remains open on weekdays and holidays and the tour lasts an hour. The floor of the cave passage is completely level and accessible for people with special needs.

There is also an information centre with a seating capacity of 25, which presents three-dimensional images of the inaccessible passages of the cave, the Aggitis River gorge and other sites in the region, at a cost of 1 Ђ per person for a 15-minute screening. The hall is also available free of charge for environmental briefings and completion of questionnaires handed out to school children who visit the cave.
