Prefecture Chalkidiki, also Halkidiki, is a peninsula in northern Greece, eastern of the prefecture of Thessaloniki. It is one of the prefectures of periphery of Central Macedonia in Greece. Its capital is a town of Polygyros, located in the central place of Chalkidiki. The peninsula of Chalkidiki resembling a hand with three "fingers" (in Greek also referred as "legs") Kassandra, Sithonia and Athos (location of Agion Oros with its monasteries and the Mount Athos).
There are many wonderful beaches with crystal clear water and many summer resorts of all around three fingers. The village Kallithea, known for the nightlife clubs, is located on the first finger - Kassandra. In the villages Kallithea, Gerakini, Nikiti, Neos Marmaras and Ouranoupoli you can find great hotels. From the village Ouranoupoli you can get a trip around the Athos peninsula to discover its monasteries from the sea.
